The Summer Math & Science teacher will be responsible for teach a weekend academic enrichment math or science courses to students in grades 4th - 7th grade middle. The Teacher is expected to design the lessons, activities, and assessments for the math and science activities in collaboration with the Program Director. The Teacher will assist with supervising students during other weekend academy activities
Enthusiastic and caring with a specific interest in youth development. The Math and Science teacher should have prior teaching experience and have a State license to teach, preferably in middle school math. The Teacher should also have experience teaching students between ages of 8 and 14, preferably in an inner-city setting. Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and differentiated instruction is preferred. Teachers should have strong classroom management skills. A masters or bachelors degree in an education related field is strongly preferred. Must be able to pass a CORI test.
The Math and Science teacher will be supervised by the Executive Director. The Math and Science teacher will be required to attend an orientation session before the program begins. They will also be required to be available during the prearranged weekend academies.
Program dates are usually on Saturday Mornings and planned in advance between the months of September and May
